Fledgling- Common GrackleThis is a fledling Common Grackle, a native species often confused with the European Starling. Grackels have very dark, narrow beaks and dark legs in comparison with the non-native European Starling that have yellow beaks.

Nestlings- Common GrackleThese are older nestling Common Grackles, a natice species often confused with the non-native European Starling. While the plumage is similar in coloration, Grackles have very dark, narrow beaks while Starlings have wide, bright yellow beaks with large "lips".

House FinchHouse Finches are native and are often confused with the non-native House Sparrow. House Finches have a whitish beak in comparison to House Sparrows who have a bright yellow one.

Fledglings- American RobinThese Robins just fledged in the morning. They still look very much like nestlings, but have a short tail, are able to stand, perch and hop.

Fledglings- House FinchThese House Finches fledged several days ago. They look just like adults but their tail feathers are just under 2" in length and they lack fully developed flight muscles. At this age they still need to be fed several times a day but are also picking up food on their own.

Nestling- American RobinThis is an older nestling American Robin, a native species often confused with the non-native European Starling. Robins' beaks tend not to be as yellow and they lack the big "lips" of a Starling. Also note the red coloration on the chest that Starlings lack.
