Applying to the Board of Directors

Piedmont Wildlife Center is a federally approved 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation incorporated in the State of North Carolina. The center is governed by a Board of Directors elected at an annual October meeting as specified in our bylaws

Day to day operations are overseen by our Executive Director, Gail Abrams.

We have several vacancies on our board and are currently working to increase the size of the board. Our board of directors is involved with fundraising, strategic planning, long-term planning, budgeting, fiscal oversight, and overseeing the Executive Director. We also help resolve problems that are brought to us by the Executive Director or through the grievance process and serve as spokespeople for the organization. We encourage candidates to consider carefully the ways in which they would like to help the center, their skills, and if they might be best applied at the board level or with a more direct volunteer position working with a staff member.
