Types of Programs

Explore the natural world with a trained naturalist. Learn some of the little known facts of the piedmont forest, and learn to see the world of nature with different eyes. Our Adult Nature Education Series allows you to walk through the dark woods searching for owls, study the animal tracks of our area, and experience a few of the native wild plants that grow in our forest. We will teach at an adult level, but welcome interested young people to join us as well on these weekend walks and adventures.

Our celebrated camp program brings lifelong naturalists and children together for a nature mentoring experience that they will remember for years to come. These camps are inspirational, learning experiences that help bring the natural world alive for children and teens. They are filled with hands-on oudoor adventures, storytelling, animal care and direct personal mentoring. Our camp community serves people ages 4-18

Our highly popular intersession/track out camps are modeled after our summer camp program, bringing children and teens closer to nature.  Fall Camps for 2010 offer several new camp themes that your child will want to attend so don't miss out!  We also offer camps during school holidays and are very willing to schedule a camp during dates not listed if you have 5 children available during the same week - call our office at 489-0900 for more details.

We provide College level internship opportunities to students studying at the university level. The internships are direct, hands on experiences designed to offer students the opportunity to learn through service. Internships may focus on the areas of Wildlife Conservation, Environmental Education, or Nonprofit Management.

We provide teen leadership experiences through our Counselor in Training (CIT) program and our summer High School internships.

We visit area schools and other facilities and do assembly programs with live animals as well as individual classroom teaching. We can tailor a program to your group or you can choose from our selections.

We provide field trips, birthday parties, nursing home visits, boy and girl scout programs and other learning opportunities for people of all ages.

Come out and join us for these special occasions that we are hosting in honor and celebration of native wildlife
